Our Level 1 Diploma courses are much more than just a qualification. They offer a sound introduction to work in a variety of fields and an opportunity to try out your new skills in the workplace. Also, learners who need support to improve their English and maths can do so and this will lead them to receiving Functional Skills qualifications.
Many learners also choose to take qualifications in employability to improve their opportunities for employment once the course is completed. YMCA Training takes a very flexible approach and will discuss and agree with you all your available options.
From a Level 1 Diploma you can progress to an Intermediate Apprenticeship or a Level 2 qualification.
Most Level 1 Diplomas are offered as a full-time course over 6 months although some are shorter. As we always try to be flexible to your needs, patterns of when you can attend can be agreed in advance.
Level 1 Diploma Courses are available in the following subjects:
Caring for Children
Hair and Beauty
Health and Social Care
Worried about the cost of training? If you are aged between 16 and 18 you may be eligible for a Bursary Award from YMCA Training to help you pay for travel and other training costs. We also offer an Inclusion Fund for any 16 to 19 year olds that are not eligible for the Bursary Award but who we feel need extra financial support. Read more about our bursaries.
Also, for a limited time only, YMCA Training is offering all learners on a Level 1 Diploma course, aged 16 to 23, a bonus of £20* for good attendance and making progress and £50* when you complete the full qualification. This payment will be made monthly, and will be additional to any of the above awards you may be eligible for. £150 is the maximum bonus available per person.
