Temporary Flexible New Deal Training Adviser
£19,053
Based: Northallerton
Hours: 37.5 hours a week
Temporary for 6 months with a view to permanent after this time

Responsible for the design and delivery of Flexible New Deal training programmes, you will deliver inspirational training to participants to improve their employability skills and help move them into sustainable employment. Many of your participants will have had negative experiences of employment, learning and education. You will be responsible for making decisions in relation to the needs and learning interventions for each participant based on their learning plan.

It goes without saying that you will bring real empathy for the needs of unemployed adults, and previous experience of New Deal/JCP training provision. Finally, you should have or be working towards a recognised teaching or training qualification.

Mentoring and supporting a group of young people on the Foundation Learning programme, you will design and deliver a training programme which will incorporate the skills required both prior to and during employment to a range of learners. This is a particularly challenging role as some of our learners will have had negative experiences of education, may have been excluded from education and are usually from a socially disadvantaged background, you must therefore possess the patience and commitment to deal with any difficult situations in an appropriate manner. You will be responsible for taking decisions in relation to the needs and opportunities for each learner within the context of the provision.

Experience of working with young people and enabling them to achieve their goals is essential, along with knowledge of the local employment market. You will possess or be willing to work towards a Teaching qualification (TDLB, 7307/7407 CIPD). You will possess the ability to encourage, motivate and engage learners along with strong written and verbal communication skills, a systematic approach to planning and organisation.

You will be required to undertake a CRB check.

As Centre Manager at our Wythenshawe centre you will lead the team by giving them the confidence and support they need to meet challenging targets. Knowledge and experience of training in the work based learning sector and the ability to demonstrate a real understanding of the diverse needs of our participants are a must. This, coupled with an appropriate level of suitable qualification and skills to build and maintain effective working relationships with local employers, schools and communities to maintain funding streams and support our wide range of programmes, will ensure you are a success in this role.

We currently have an opportunity available for a Management Accountant to join us to deliver management accounting services to include the effective and timely processing of financial administration, planning and reporting.

As the Management Accountant you will have day to day operational responsibility for planning, budgeting and forecasting and for producing reports and analyses which highlight variances, trends and risks, you will also be responsible for the implementation and updating of internal financial procedures, under the guidance of the Finance Director.

Candidates for this role must be a CCAB Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACCA or CIPFA) coupled with knowledge of finance information systems including Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains and Microsoft Forecaster would be considered an advantage.

You must have experience of financial or management accounting (ideally in an education, contract, and/or voluntary sector environment), with the ability to liaise with operational delivery teams to deliver agreed business objectives. Although not essential, experience within a complex multi-funded or financed business would stand you in good stead.

You will be responsibility on behalf of the Manager for the day-to-day management of administration, including ensuring adherence to YMCA Training Policies and Procedures and maintaining the quality, integrity and robustness of administration systems and procedures locally.
You will also have responsibly for the petty cash float (c.£500) and be a cheque signatory.
With good computing skills (word processing, database and spreadsheets) you will have the ability to acquire new skills as necessary. Also the ability to plan and organise your own work and the work of others is essential. Good levels of literacy and numeracy are required for the role.

You will be required to establish strong working relationships with local employers, businesses and related networks in order to identify, develop and secure appropriate work placements for participants. You will have proven experience of marketing, selling and promotional activities, to businesses as well as the capacity to engage effectively with and on behalf of people who have been long-term unemployed.

You must engage with staff on a regular basis to obtain a full understanding of the employment needs of participants. You will be required to maintain a full bank of employers which can meet the planned needs of participants to move them into work experience and into employment.
