Foundation Learning (e2e)

Foundation Learning (FL) is replacing our e2e provision, and is the national suite of learning for 14-19s working below Level 2. FL is offered by YMCA Training at a wide range of locations throughout England.

Foundation Learning provides practical hands-on experience alongside innovative learning, and aims to provide participants with the skills necessary to identify, plan and access a clear career route by developing the skills that employers want.

Foundation Learning has been introduced to provide participants with a broader choice of qualifications and learning opportunities which are designed around their individual needs. Following the programme, participants will be better placed to progress to further education, apprenticeships or employment with training.

The programme offers the practical learning of Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT which are developed around everyday life and work as well as a range of vocational qualifications from which to choose. All FL programmes are individually designed around the participant , with individuals able to choose from a variety of qualifications. Because FL programmes are fully flexible, they can be joined at any point in the year.

Participants will:

  • Receive information, advice and guidance to develop qualifications and career choices
  • Gain recognised qualifications in areas that are relevant to their chosen career
  • Develop skills in English, Maths and ICT
  • Develop the personal skills that employers want
  • Have a voice via learner participation

FL programmes are free, and participants may be eligible for up to £30 per week in educational maintenance allowance (EMA).
