Management

Are you a born leader? Management skills are required by people across a wide range of job roles in all sectors of employment. YMCA Training offers an NVQ Level 4 in Management, to employees who are already in a management role. 

The programme reflects contemporary management theory and practice. You will undertake 5 compulsory units and an additional 3 units selected in accordance with what is most relevant to you.

The course will assess your knowledge and understanding of the key areas of management. A Level 4 NVQ in Management will also support your personal development and increase your contribution to the business overall.

Please note this course is only available as an employer funded NVQ, so you will need the support of your employer to enrol.

During an NVQ Level 4 in Management,

You will be responsible for:

• Developing and implementing operational plans for your area of responsibility
• Encouraging innovation in your area of responsibility
• Developing productive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders
• Ensuring health and safety requirements are met in your area of responsibility
• Managing business processes

You may also cover units based on the following:

• Promoting equality of opportunity and diversity in your area of responsibility
• Providing leadership in your area of responsibility
• Planning, leading and implementing change
• Recruiting, selecting and keeping colleagues
• Allocate and monitor the progress and quality of work in your area of responsibility
• Managing finance for your area of responsibility
• Building your organisation's understanding of its market and customers

You will gain:

• An NVQ Level 4 in Management, comprised of eight units, including five mandatory units and three optional units.

YMCA Training will:

• Visit you regularly to assess your progress and observe your performance in the workplace
• Provide the appropriate off the job training
• Support and guide you throughout your course

Entry requirements:

In order to undertake the NVQ Level 4 in Management you should have:

• A high level of personal responsibility and autonomy in your management role
• The ability and the opportunity to demonstrate recognisable management and leadership skills
• Responsibility for people and resources

Registered Managers Award for Care Home Managers

In addition to the Level 4 NVQ in Management, YMCA Training provides the Registered Managers Award for Care Home Managers. This is designed specifically for Care Home Managers and is the qualification that most closely addresses the skills and demands of the role.

This qualification is offered in a limited number of YMCA Training centres, so please enquire with your local centre as to the availability.
