Business Administration
All successful businesses rely on effective administration. By doing an Apprenticeship in Business Administration, you can become a vital member of staff in any organisation.
A Business Administration Apprenticeship can lead to a wide range of career opportunities from a receptionist at the face of the organisation, to an Office Manager running a busy office, to a Personal Assistant to the Managing Director.
A Business Administration professional needs to be organised, good at communicating with other staff and clients and able to multitask. If this sounds like you then read on to find out more:
Through an Apprenticeship in Business Administration,
You will learn:
- IT skills covering IT systems, software, email and databases
- Effective telephone skills
- Office equipment knowledge
- The workings of the business environment
You could be responsible for:
- Managing diaries, including organising meetings, travel and accommodation
- Processing financial transactions and credit control procedures
- Archiving, storing and retrieving documents
- Researching, reporting and presenting information accurately
- Support of meetings, including booking and preparing rooms and liaising with attendees
- Customer service
- Maintaining and monitoring Health and Safety issues
You will achieve:
- NVQ level 2 (Apprenticeship) or Level 3 (Advanced Apprenticeship) in Business Administration
- Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Business Administration including Employment Responsibilities and Rights, ICT (Information Communications Technology), and Health and Safety or
- GOAL Award in Business Administration
- Key Skills in Application of Number and Communication Level 1 (Apprenticeship) or Level 2 (Advanced Apprenticeship)
YMCA Training will:
- Give you a full induction so you are prepared to start your Apprenticeship
- If you are not currently in an administration role, we will help you to find a job in which you can work towards the Apprenticeship
- Visit you regularly to assess your progress and observe you in the workplace
- Provide the appropriate off the job training
- Support and guide you throughout your course
Entry requirements:
Apprenticeships
There are no specific entry requirements for this Apprenticeship and you don't need to have any qualifications already. You will need to have a reasonable level of literacy and numeracy. You also need to show that you:
- Are committed to the training
- Have a real interest in Business Administration and an awareness of the business administration environment
- Have the ability to achieve the Key Skills in Application of Number and Communication
Advanced Apprenticeships
For an Advanced Apprenticeship you either need to have completed the Apprenticeship, or be able to show that you have skills and knowledge at the level required to achieve an Apprenticeship.
You should have a good level of literacy and numeracy and in addition to the qualities required for an Apprenticeship, you should also be:
- Able to work on your own initiative
- Self-disciplined
- Confident and able to take responsibility and guide others
Course length:
The course is flexible so that you can take the time you need to achieve the different elements. Most people take between 12-14 months to complete the Apprenticeship and around 18 months to finish the Advanced Apprenticeship.
