Grounds Maintenance Apprentice - Jacques Landscapes (SK9) - Horticulture Level 2 Apprenticeship

Opportunity description

Jacques Landscapes Ltd based in Wilmslow are seeking to recruit a keen, well-motivated Horticulture Apprentice for an immediate start, to work towards achieving L2 Diploma in Work-based Horticulture (together with Functional Skills Maths and English at either Level 1 or Level 2 as or if required).  You will be working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 0730-1615 . You should be a car owner/driver (or full driving licence) due to the need to operate gardening machinery.

Permanent position available to dedicated person on completion of apprenticeship!

Main Duties:

(training and supervision will be given)

  • Grounds maintenance works on both commercial and domestic contracts
  • Landscape construction – hard and soft landscape
  • Soft landscaping construction work including  – planting of trees, shrubs, beds and borders; seeding, turfing, practical gardening tasks, pest and disease control, weed control.
  • Communicate with  manager and colleagues
  • Communicate with key client staff and external contractors where necessary.
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach
  • Compliance with statutory regulations including H & S regulations
  • Use own initiative to satisfy client contracted needs
  • Solve problems in a safe manner and escalate any necessary issues to the Line Manager

The ideal candidate would be local to the area, keen to learn, hardworking, reliable & have some interest or experience in horticulture/gardening.

Training will be provided in the workplace where you will work towards an Intermediate Apprenticeship in Horticulture.
