On Friday 8th July 2011, YMCA Training
Wythenshawe celebrated the achievements of its learners at its town
centre training location.
Paul Goggins MP was invited to present certificates to the young
achievers from the STRIVE project and Post-16 Foundation Learning
programme.
The Lord Mayor of Manchester, councillor Harry Lyons JP, was
also invited and presented qualification certificates to learners
who had achieved on the pre-16 provision.
After handing out the qualification certificates, councillor
Harry Lyons JP presented special certificates to certain
individuals, followed by certificates and medals to the four teams
of learners and their nominated staff members that had recently
taken part in a very competitive rural orienteering team
challenge.
Deborah Thompson, learner and student council member, then
presented an unexpected token of appreciation on behalf of all the
learners and staff to YMCA Training Wythenshawe's manager John
Warburton, for his part in organising the rural orienteering
event.
The Lord Mayor said: "It has been a superb event and I'm very
impressed in how well the day has been supported by members of
family, friends and other supporting agencies."
