YMCA Training Salford training adviser publishes her first children’s book.

Elaine Ogbeta, a training adviser on the foundation learning programme at YMCA Training, has written and published her first children's book!

Elaine has always been interested in writing and has finally penned her first picture book, Anansi and The Dutchy Pot. The story follows the mischievous adventures of the title character.

Elaine has based her story on the traditional tale of greedy Anansi and how eating so much gets him into trouble.

Elaine said: "I have written lots of poems before but this is the first book I have written.  As part of my role at YMCA Training I teach literacy and some of the learners hate reading, but reading should be fun and this is a great story about magic and adventure and there is an important message in there too".

The book features teacher discussion points and many fun activities to try at home.

Elaine now plans to publish a full series of books following Anansi's trials and tribulations.

Anansi and the Dutchy Pot is currently available at Amazon, online at Waterstones and WHSmith and through Anansiwinks.com.

Well done Elaine!
