On Monday 27th June, learners at YMCA
Training Romford travelled from number 7 to number 64 Western Road,
to learn about its history.
The learners met with the Western Road History Group at Western
Road Lifeskills Centre. The group explained what they had found in
their research on the building, and the links they had found to
Jack the Ripper.
The learners found the exhibition fascinating. They were
particularly amazed at the work that had been put in to recreating
historic scenes.
YMCA Training Romford is now planning to research the history of
YMCA and YMCA Training and is going to invite the Lifeskills Centre
to see their discoveries.
Let's hope they don't find anything quite so sinister in our
past!
