Students on the Foundation Learning programme at YMCA
Training Dover are taking advantage of the good weather by running
a 'tomato competition'.
The open-plan training centre provides good natural light, and
the learners are making the most of these ideal conditions to
produce some home grown tomatoes.
The first stage of the competition - for the first plant to
reach 15 centimetres -was comfortably won by Marc. Now the potting
on of the young plants has been completed, the race is on for the
heaviest tomato!
Everyone is looking forward to harvesting their produce as the
season moves on. The weight will naturally involve the practical
use of grams and, hopefully, kilograms!
Marc said he was confident that he would go on to produce the
biggest tomato.
The accurate use of measurements (millilitres and kilograms) in
Dover has also produced great results in bread making, as
demonstrated by Caine, who was seriously proud of his loaf!
