19-year-old Jasmine Quinn from Salford is celebrating
success this week after a double-whammy of apprenticeship
achievements.
Jasmine is currently undertaking a horticulture apprenticeship
with YMCA Training Salford and is on placement with Salford City
Council working on the School Grounds Maintenance team. She
works with two other female apprentices who travel around schools
in the area looking after playing fields and gardens.
The team have been so successful that they have won a local
authority "City Prides Schools Maintenance of the Year
Award" and have been nominated for the National Finals in
2011. Jasmine is close to completing her apprenticeship and another
staff member on the team, Dawn, is also a former apprentice with
YMCA Training.
This month Jasmine also won an "Aim Higher
Apprentice Award", following funding to help her with her
tractor driving training. She was presented with a certificate
at the Aimhigher Greater Manchester Awards evening ceremony at
Salford University from Darren Campbell the World,
Olympic and European athlete.
Jeff Pearce, training adviser at YMCA Training Salford, said:
ìJasmine has a great attitude to her work and weÃre all really
proud of her. Her supervisor at Salford City Council always
comments on how conscientious Jasmine is, and that she would really
like to see her continue working with the team after her
apprenticeship is finished.î
