Support an Apprentice
We work with thousands of learners each year who want to get a great start to their career. We can work with you to identify the skills gap in your workforce and how an Apprentice could fill it. Read on to find out how you'll benefit and what's involved:
What is an Apprenticeship?
Apprenticeships enable employers to increase the skills and ability of their workforce through a structured and practical learning route.
An Apprenticeship is a nationally recognised qualification for 16-24 year-olds which comprises an NVQ, a Technical Certificate and Key Skills in areas such as Communication, Application of Number and IT.
You can either put one of your existing employees forward for an Apprenticeship, or YMCA Training can place a new recruit with you, who we will train as an Apprentice.
What's in it for you?
Research carried out by the Apprenticeships Task Force, demonstrates that having an Apprentice on the workforce is beneficial to employers because it can lead to:
- Increased productivity
- Increased profitability
- Increased staff retention
- Increased quality
- A competitive edge in the marketplace
You'll also be supporting a local young person, so you'll be investing in your local community and economy. Having an Apprentice on your workforce can assist an application to become an Investors in People organisation.
